I just want to make this clear to all of you. THIS BLOG would not in any way discriminate other countries nor degrade them.

VISION

WHy this BLOG was created
I have always been in love with my country. I always believed that we are destined for something BIG. It may not be evident now, but it would be.. ONE DAY. People tend to focus more on the negative side of the Philippines that they forgot all about it's GREATNESS and WONDER.
So i decided to make a BLOG, that would make a difference
And to all of you who are not from Philippines, but from different countries in the world. Let me just remind you, EVERY COUNTRY has it's OWN DESTINY and PURPOSE. It just so happened i am living and was born in Philippines, and currently residing in my paradise. That is why i dedicate this blog to my beloved country. If you as an individual from a different nation, want the whole world to know, that your country is great and all that, make a blog and tell the whole world about it.

Subject: 'Champion for Life' Honors For 'Paeng' Nepomuceno | Friday, January 04, 2008
*UPDATES of CURRENT EVENTS(RED)*

President Arroyo presents a presidential citation to the world bowling champion Rafael 'Paeng' Nepomuceno, conferring on him the Order of Lakandula with the Special Class of Champion for Life (Photo/OPS).

It was awarded to Nepomuceno in simple rites during his courtesy call at Malacanang Palace's Music Room, Thursday. He presented to the Chief Executive the trophy he won in the South Pacific Classic in Melbouorne, Australia last October 2007.

The South Pacific Classic is Australia's most prestigious annual tournament which Nepomuceno first won in 1984, the first non-Australian to win the tournament. "Now, 23 years later, and having won it again, I am the first non-Australian to have won the tournament two times," Nepomuceno told the President.

"Congratulations, the Filipino people are very proud of you," the President replied, citing his extraordinary contribution to Philippine sports and his outstanding achievements in bowling competitions.

and you are right Madam President! We sure are proud of Mr. Paeng Nepomuceno for his extraordinary achievement.

The Champion for Life honors was created by the President to give credit and recognition to the Filipinos who have attained outstanding achievements in international sports, beauty and similar fields of competition, fostering extraordinary national pride and inspiration toward excellence. Those who received similar outstanding citations from the Chief Executive were boxing hero Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao, Miss International beauty queen Precious Lara Quigaman, billiards king Efren "Bata" Reyes, and Mount Everest conquerors Romy Garduce, Leo Oracion and Pastor Emata.

Recently, Nepomuceno was declared by both houses of Congress as the "Best Filipino Athlete of All Time" for his six prestigious world bowling championships, making him an international bowling Hall of Famer. Nepomuceno is listed in the Guiness Book of World Records as having won the most number of World Cups and has recently been designated Ambassador of Goodwill by the United Nations last July 11. In addition to his long list of well-known achievements as a world champion in three decades, Nepomuceno truly has been and continues to be an extraordinary ambassador for Filipino sports. He is the only bowler who had received the prestigious International Olympic Committee (POC) President's Trophy and was the first to be enshrined in the International Bowling Hall of Fame in St. Louis, Missouri in 1993. In November 1999, the Federation Internationale des Quilleurs (FIQ) named Paeng as the "International Bowling Athlete of the Millennium."

Subject: Philippines Tops in Women Managers | Thursday, October 18, 2007
*UPDATES of CURRENT EVENTS *red*

International Survey shows that women are breaking barriers in the Philippines and that they hold half of all senior management positions, and even one of the highest levels in the world.

Of course you would probably guess by then that our country is being run by a woman - President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Women hold half of our senior management jobs in our country, representing 81% of the world economy, the highest rate in the study of 32 nations. Also, 97% of businesses in our country have women in senior management positions, actually the highest in the poll.

Men in the Philippines are actually used to women in authority. There are less sexist here so women can really say what they want to say and do what they want to do without the fear of being discrimanated just because you are a woman.

According to Dina Salonga from an article in VOAnews:

"I think that the Philippine society is basically a matriarchal one," she says.
" And that men don't really mind reporting to a higher authority who is female.
So that in the home the children, sometimes even the husband, would take orders,
if that's right word for it, from the wife. So they don't really mind reporting
to a woman manager."
The Philippines is often portrayed as having a macho
culture in which men dominate. But Salonga says this is only a façade and women
control things from behind the scenes.
"I think from the outside that's what
the men want the other people to perceive them to be. But inside the home I
think it's really the woman who enjoys the power," she says. "And sometimes they
just make the husbands feel that they are the ones who are powerful. So they do
it in a really subtle way and they get their way around it."

Even the Philippine Labor Department says women have outnumbered men in executive positions for several years.

from VoaNews:

Dan Roces, chief of research for People Management Association, says women are accepted in business.
"There really isn't any discrimination," he says. "We really tend to trust our businesses with [to] females. Our culture is more maternalistic. We tend to trust our women more because we were taken care of by our mothers. So we really don't mind if we take orders from them."

Po, opo, mano po.

They are the speech suffixes that define courtesy, and respect to the elders.

Po and opo, is more like a "yes" with respect.

If someone older than you asked:

Granny: Did you get a high grade in your exam?
Grandson: Opo.

or if you are being called you can also use this for an answer.

Granny: Child, come here (*Anak, halika dito*)
Child: Po?

or in certain conversations when somebody asks how you are doing.

Uncle: How are you? (*Kumusta ka na?*)
Nephew: Doing great po. (*Ok lang po*)

It does exactly means yes... but more like an addition(suffix) to every answer you make to someone older than you. Sometimes, this is not just used for elder people but also for teenagers with the same age as well. :)

Mano po. -_-

Is an act of respect for elder ones also. When one sees Granny, Granpa, Mom, Dad, Uncle, Aunt for the first time during that day, they usually come up to them and say "Mano po Granny", and then Granny would extend her right hand and then the child would then place it on his forehead in respect.

Winning this title, sure is one thing! Imagine, winning the FIRST POOL WORLD CUP?

THE PHILIPPINE TEAM CLIMBING MOUNT EVEREST

2 sets of Filipino siblings reigned supreme at the “Talent Olympics”

Cercado sisters -- Almira, 18; Irene, 16; Mylene, 14, and Celina, 10 -- have amazing voices that won for them the gold medal in the overall vocal group junior division.

The Marquez siblings -- Beverly, Paolo and Jem Marquez -- bagged the silver medal in the overall senior vocal division.

The 21-member delegation of the Philippines this year all made it to the finals.

"The song entries were limited to 60 seconds each so that choosing and arranging songs that would showcase one’s vocal prowess for such a short time was in itself a challenge." De Leon said.

“In that aspect, it also showed the creativity of the Filipinos. They all performed one-minute songs that were arranged very well,” he said.

The Cercados came home with 16 gold medals, four plaques, and a sparkling trophy after sweeping the top prizes in all the four categories they participated in—Broadway, Gospel, Original Works and Pop/R&B.

They sang “His Eyes on the Sparrow” (Gospel), “Phantom of the Opera” (Broadway), Ryan Cayabyab’s “Paraiso” (Original Works), and “Billy Jean” (Pop/R&B).

“The judges told us they liked Michael Jackson again after hearing us sing Billy Jean,” Almira said.

She and her sisters performed the Jackson hit, complete with dancing the moonwalk.

The judges were so impressed that they awarded The Cercados the Worldstar Champions in the Pop Category in the junior division.

The Siblings had a total of nine silver medals from the same categories.

I know i just have to make a writeup about jeepney's
Yes, they are the KING OF THE ROAD in the Philippines. A jeepney ride is always an extraordinary experience and there are no two rides that is the same.
They are usually colorful, and are often accompanie with loud/soft or no music at all.
I usually "think" and "contemplate" while riding in one, whenever i go home. I usually pick "the-lone-jeepney-without-a-lot-of-passengers". Although, I sometimes enjoy the company of one or two people inside a jeepney, I prefer to be alone in one, haha but that rarely happens, usually jeepneys have a LOT of passengers. Carrying more than it's usual capacity. Sometimes, depending on your mood you wouldn't care less, other times.. well.. just forget the "annoying" feeling.
Just enjoy riding in one jeepney, that made us all UNIQUELY PINOY.

* *MADE IN THE PHILIPPINES(ORANGE)*

PINOY SAUCES = SAWSAWAN
Filipinos LOVES SAWSAWAN
Our pinoy seasonings, flavorful dipping sauces, is one of the most sought after ingredients. They are the different sauces that gives "flavor" and additional "taste" to anything you are eating. These "sawsawan" makes you want to eat more, even when you are just having "tuyo/dried fish".

We have the hot, salty, sweet sauces, or anything we can "create/invent" just to find the right "taste" we want. Even if the food is complete and "OK" to eat, we just have to find suka(vinegar), toyo(soy sauce), patis(fish sauce), calamansi, sarsa, sili(chili)... beside everything.

Pinoy's experiment with these various sauces, as they are fairly common place and known to enhance any dish.

--- Popular Sauces ---

*Suka't Sili - (Vinegar + Chili) - Everyone loves this. This is the "overused" sauce in every household. HOT!

*Toyo - (Soy Sauce) - aside from the "suka't sili", everyone <3's to have this on dinner tables. They would mix this with "kalamansi", "chili", or "suka", any of the three or it can also be the three altogether.

*Rufina Philippine Fish sauce(patis) - This one i saw in amazon.

Product Description
We are pleased to offer fish sauce from the Philippines. This has a unique flavor, slightly different than Thai fish sauce due to the blend of fish used to create the sauce. The fish sauce is a bit more salty and does not have a heavy odor.

Patis - is the by product of Bagoong. It is distinguished as the clear refined layer floating on the thicker bagoong.

*"Pinakurat" from Iligan - Best sawsawan in PINAS! Everyone loves this! It is hot.. more like suka't sili but better! Sizzling HOT! If you can be addicted to "suka't sili", i am sure, you would want Pinakurat more.
We have this in our table(supply from Iligan, when my parents went there, they bought a LOT). If you’re lucky enough, you can find one displayed yet partly hidden, at the grocery section(if you are outside iligan). Shake well before using.

*KALAMANSI - a souring "agent". An important ingredient in innumerable dipping sawsawan(sauces). When used as a sawsawan, kalamansi is often mixed with patis (fish sauce) or soy sauce for that indescribable sour-salty taste.

*Bagoong - Not all would be pleased with it's odor because it is distinct and unique, but it's taste has a lot to offer. This is also a flavor enhancing agent. A dipping sauce for chicharon, whole fried fish, green and ripe mangoes, or hard boiled eggs.

*Onions/Tomatoes/Garlic/Chili = additional condiments to be added in vinegar, soy sauce.. or whatever you wish.
